I went in with some friends cos one of them wanted to go. The first thing you see is the inside door window is broken. Inside it's dark and Dengie. The place wasn't the cleanest by anyone's standards. The beer is just standard stuff on draft. With a can of punk in the fridge. Is as far as Craft goes. I will say this. For a city center bar it is very cheap to drink there. Probably value for money you probably can't do better in a city centre. Think its safe to say that this is the bar you don't want to find your self in on a weekend evening.

Would have been 5 stars if upstairs was still open, my wife and I were engaged here nearly forty years ago. Still a proper pub, but watch that last step returning from the gents, ouch. Called on our way to uni to see Steve Hillage and Steve interesting Davis! ???? Excellent night, past the Old George next morning, hasn't that changed? ????Thanks for the reply from management, from the mid seventies this was always an essential part of any visit to Newcastle, wether going to Westgate road for Motorbike parts or visits to the Mayfair or City Hall. It's in my dna, just like the Man on the moon and the Haymarket.
