Good beer selection. Excellent pies. A traditional pub on 3 floors, including a roof garden. It has been renovated in a traditional style, but the occasional modern twist. This is one of those bars that you shouldn't miss if you are in Newcastle or surrounding areas.

The friendliest and most helpful staff we encountered on our pub crawl of Newcastle/Gateshead. Based off a few vague statements from my wife, they were able to pluck a beer that she loved. I must confess it was an excellent choice. The interior was like a dive bar, but not as shabby - loved it.

Surely one of Tyneside's most iconic pubs but also a best kept secret. Architecturally, its an absolute treasure, inside and out and the buffet is one of the best pubs interiors in the North. But, importantly the cask beers are well kept and well chosen. All in all a great pub.

Excellent choice of Real Ale and also sells pies. Recently renovated building is a real gem. Looks like the Flat Iron building but actually pre dates it. Very friendly staff.
